Nice to Meet Ya!

I suppose the most organic way to begin my little adventure is to introduce myself.  Hi, I'm Kim.  I'm a skinnyfat smoker.

If you haven't heard the term "Skinnyfat" before, I'll enlighten you.  A person who is skinnyfat looks thin, in my case even toned, but has relatively the same fitness score and eating habits or Homer Simpson.  We are the obese in disguise.  "Lucky people," you might say.  Not so.

Skinnyfat is dangerous and has the same long-term health implications as obeseity.  We are at risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, clogged arteries and a plethera of other problems.  Not to mention, we feel like crap most of the time; or at least I do.

So now that we know what skinnyfat is, let's begin.

You might wonder what has sparked this little fitness adventure of mine.  Well, on top of being skinnyfat I have Multiple Sclerosis, Celiacs Disease, lactose intolerance, soy intolerance, Alopecia Ariata, Scoliosis and a bundle of other medical joys.  Did I mention I smoke?  Quite frankly, I've had a difficult year health wise and I'm ready to make a change.  A BIG change.

So once again, I'm at the gym at least three days per week.  I plan to quit smoking on January 3, 2012.  I will gain at least 5 lbs of fat and build my lean muscle mass.

Follow along if you like.  There are bound to be some laughs and I'm sure I'll pick up some good tips along the way.

The end goal:  to sleep better, feel happier, run a 5k next in June and (pardon my Latin) not feel like a giant bag of ass all the time.
